Legendary Costume Designers: Gowns by Adrian

Did MMU's What is Costume? class leave you wanting more? Do you love the costumes in classic Hollywood films? Then join us for a deep dive on one of the greatest costume designers from Hollywood’s glamour years. During his 13 years at MGM, Adrian designed for 200 films. His designs were worn by characters played by stars like Greta Garbo, Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford and Jeanette MacDonald.
In this class, we’ll watch CAMILLE (1936, 109 min) and use the film as a jumping off point to explore Adrian’s designs, career, and discuss a few of the costumes in the Movie Madness collection along the way!
This class will be taught by De, who’s previous classes include What is Costume?, Worldwide Vampires, and Half Agony, Half Hope: Austen Adaptations of the 90s at MMU.
Class will begin with a short lecture, followed by a screening of the film, after which an instructor-led discussion will take place.
Class size will be limited to 18.
